Samsung has also announced today a ‘Premium Suite’ upgrade of GALAXY Note which includes an OS upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich along with extra multimedia features and a range of new S Pen optimized applications to be released worldwide starting from April.
It was the standard verbiage, not exactly picking a date, but keeping everyone on their toes that it could be at any point within a wide timeframe.
Because the company is expected to decrease its orders from Qualcomm which provides Snapdragon SoCs for other Samsung smartphones including the Galaxy Note, the Windows Phone 7 powered Focus, the Focus S and the Focus Flash.
With the added wait, Samsung is throwing in new software that you can utilize with your S Pen.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 rectifies that issue by shipping with Android 4.0 (aka Ice Cream Sandwich); for those keeping score, it’s now the third tablet announced in Samsung’s 2012 lineup with Ice Cream Sandwich preinstalled.
As Samsung puts it, the new UI will be more intuitive, and will also feature an altered application menu, which aims to help multitasking on the device.
The software applications for the S Pen are S Note, which will let you add and combine notes and sketches to digital content on your device; the Angry Birds Space exclusive level that weve heard about in the past; and our Story, which will let you create personalized cards right on your Galaxy Note.
But, this seems a bit more official than last time, and it would seem that Samsung is trying a bit harder to reach the second quarter than they may have been aiming to hit the first quarter due date before.
Good news is that the Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.0 upgrade is going to be even more awesome than it already was supposed to be when released sometime in late Q1.
The Galaxy Note 10.1, announced Monday at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, is the second entry in the company’s pen- and touch capable Galaxy Note line.
It includes extra multimedia features and a range of new S Pen optimized applications in addition to an OS upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Stay tuned for that, and plenty more action from Barcelona and Mobile World Congress this week.
This includes S Note, a unique tool that lets you combine your notes or sketches with other digital content, giving you a new way to create your own stories.
S Note comes in various ready to use templates for a range of tasks including meeting minutes, diary and others.
S Note also includes the innovative Shape Match and Formula Match applications that help correct and digitize geometric shapes and even solve numeric formulas hand drawn with S Pen, increasing your on the go efficiency and productivity.
You can draw tables and grids which are instantly digitized, saving time and effort.
Moreover, by using the S Note’s integrated knowledge search engines, users can quickly search, and obtain information.
For a touch of self expression, the Premium Suite also includes our Story, another S Pen optimized application that allows you to create personalized digital cards for friends or family using any type of content including notes, video content, photos, text or voice.
In celebration of the Premium Suite upgrade announcement, Samsung will provide special offers to all GALAXY users as an official launch partner of Angry Birds Space, a new blockbuster mobile game.
In addition, “Danger Zone”, a special package of 30 challenging levels normally available as an in app purchase, will be made available for free to all Samsung GALAXY users from Samsung Apps and the Android Market (level pack compatible above Android 2.1) for 3 months.
These new Speck cases are perfect fits for protecting and enhancing the Samsung Galaxy Note, Nexus, and S II.
Moreover, a special package of 30 challenging levels – ‘Danger Zone’ – will be available for free if unpacked within the three month period.
“GALAXY Note continues to delight customers all over the world with its incredible versatility and unique user experience. With the Premium Suite upgrade, we wanted to add features that enrich users’ Note experience even more, including the great advantages of Android 4.0 and innovative applications for S Pen,” said JK Shin, President of IT Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
