When Samsung announced the Galaxy S III Mini on October 11, we were massively underwhelmed.

In its announcement today, Samsung also reveals that UK S3 Mini buyers will also bag free copies of mobile games The Sims 3 and Bejeweled 2.

Naming aside, the Galaxy S3 Mini doesnt share a whole lot in common with its full sized sibling.

Positioned between the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy S III Mini, the Galaxy Premier is slightly smaller than the S III flagship (134.2 x 68 x 9 mm vs.

Its powered by a 1GHz dual core CPU, packs a 5MP rear camera and a 4 inch WVGA SuperAMOLED screen.

It ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean pre installed, which will have Samsung latest TouchWiz user interface laid over the top.

Samsung promises a release across all major UK mobile networks and independent retailers from next Thursday.

An unnamed official reportedly yelled: “Samsung is ready to unveil the next Galaxy smartphone, the Galaxy S4, at early next year’s mobile world congress (MWC) in the Spanish city of Barcelona.. However, Samsung quickly moved to dispel the rumours, saying (loosely translated from Korean): “Please note that the speculation reported by some media regarding the Galaxy S III’s successor is purely rumour, and simply not true.

The stylish and compact design offers a comfortable grip and an impressive 4.0 inch AMOLED screen, allowing people to enjoy a fantastic range of features such as Chat On, Buddy Photo Share, Social Tag and the Official Top 40 Charts app.

Simon Stanford, Vice President, Telecommunications & Networks, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “Our latest addition to the Galaxy portfolio, the Galaxy S III Mini brings the high performance, intuitive ease of use and nature inspired design of the Galaxy S III in a new elegant yet compact form.

Theres no word yet on if the device will make it to the US, but it could prove to be popular among those looking for the Galaxy S III experience without the high price.

Summary: The smartphone, which is billed as a smaller version of the hit Galaxy S III but is in reality no such thing, will go on sale in a week’s time.

It features Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 4.65 inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.5GHz dual core TI OMAP 4470 processor, HSDPA, Wi Fi, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 8MP rear camera, 1.9MP front facing camera, 8GB / 16GB of internal memory, MicroSD card slot, and the same 2,100 mAh battery found inside the S III.

Packed with the key features that have made the Galaxy S III, one of this years’ most sought after smartphones, including intelligent technology designed to make interacting with the phone natural and intuitive, this compact version features the ability to understand human gestures, S Voice; which provides customised commands as well as Direct Call which allows customers to automatically call that person simply from the motion of lifting the phone to their ear collate to make an efficient and natural user experience.

Announced by Samsung today, it doesnt look too dissimilar to the original Galaxy S III, and it only makes a small number of modest sacrifices in an effort to become more affordable.

Smart Stay and Best Photo features are also provided, helping to capture the prefect shot when using the 5 mega pixel camera.

The Galaxy S III Mini will be available to buy in the UK across all major networks, key high street and out of town electrical retailers and online retailers from 8th November.

The display is slightly smaller than the Galaxy S IIIs at 4.65 inches, but its still a Super AMOLED panel that offers a 1280×720 pixel resolution.
